Why do you think diplomacy would stop the war? It didn't work while they were committing horrible war crimes from 1936 to 1945 across Asia, why would it ever work? Even after the first bomb dropped Japan's military leaders refused to surrender. And by the time the bombs dropped Japan still had millions of soldiers, it was not incapable of fighting back.

I'm not sure you see the problem. There was no other way to use the A Bomb to stop the war and save millions of lives. This fact made it's use necessary.

@KevinVancouver2 Like most people, I grew up believing that National Socialism was a Very Bad Thing. I thought it was all about war and exterminating people. If that were true, then of course it would be a Very Bad Thing. But in fact that is not what National Socialism is about.
