A very noble version of perhaps the best truck driving song ever, or is it still 'Mama Hated Deisels'

Hi jono11, I meant strip back "the emotions".
It's about the monotony of trying to stay awake at the wheel.
Weeds, whites and wine (and Alice) giving a break to the shite life you're in.
Just feel this is very "up" . Thought Steve would champion the working man ethos of it with a bit more gravity........ But what TF!
A beautifully paced song. Either version!

@WackaJawacka Are you kidding? This arrangement is way stripped-down compared to the Feat version.

I like Lowell's version better but this ain't bad.

Prefer Lowell and The Feat.
They could strip back the emotions, sincerity and a fusion of musical roots.
Love Steve Earle, but find this busy and very much "a cover."
The song conveyed loneliness. Surviving day and night at the wheel.
Your head full of the woman you love.
