Enjoy your ride on Translink bus #9442, a brand new Nova hybrid electric bus at the time when this video was recorded, onboard rt.26 which runs between Joyce Station and 29th Avenue Station. Translink ordered 141 of these buses scheduled for completely delivery by the end of 2009, these buses are powered by a combo of GM-Allison EP40 hybrid electric drive with Cummins ISB diesel engine.

  • I heard form a friend of mine that Translink will be getting 100% Hybrid buses. The one you rode on is partial diesel and Hybrid. Will Newflyer be making an Hybrids soon?

  • That's not true..........I believe we are getting more Nova diesel buses due for delivery in November? (most likely postponed, as the delivery of the Nova HEVs came in late, they should've been here for September!)

Bright side of things is - if the whole batch of Nova HEV started arriving since September, the majority of the D40s would've been withdrawn from service until 2010 Olympics (or possibly scrapped immediately)

  • Oh. Do you mean the older D40's or the kneeling D40's? I happen to like the D40LF's and the stretchs. I hope they don't get rid of many, or any at all for that matter.

But I suppose they can't be in service forever and with the new buses, they pose a new look for vancouver.

  • D40 = high floor New Flyer 40 feet buses

D40LF = low floor "kneeling D40" New Flyer 40 feet buses

D60LF = low floor "stretches" New Flyer 60 feet buses.

    Hope that helps to clarify!

    Dave

  • is this kind of bus gonna run on the number 22 route? tell me the numbers it gonna run on

  • Not at this point, since all of them are currently based out of Burnaby Transit Centre. Go to Metrotown or Joyce Station, and you should be able to find plenty later on when more are in revenue service!

  • how are the seats on thease buses?? powell river is getting five of them

  • nice

  • they should of put colored light iin these buses

  • IS Richmond gonna get some Grey buses for once??

im getting bored of the 1995 flyers

  • I wish buses out in Victoria, BC told you the name of the stop or the street, etc. If it's dark out, it's hard to see where you are!

  • Yea, that does help.

I like the D40's cause of the the diesel sound,it has that retro look. I like the D40LF's for the low centre of gravity and nice look and the D60LF's are nice as well.
