  • @bizby2007 He starts out with 12 subtracting 1 (8/8) making it 11. then the the 8/8 is added to the 1/8 which gives you 9/8. Then you can subtract 11 9/8 - 9 2/8 = 2 7/8. Wasn't giving out half ass lessons but was trying to help out... sorry you didn't understand maybe this will be easier...

    Perfect example of why i hate math. Absolutely no explanation on how you made you make 12 1/8 to 11 9/8. Thanks for the half ass lesson.

    the 9/8 is is because if you notice the bottom faction is 2/8 but you can't subtract 1 minus 2 so he made it 9 minus 2 hope this helps.
