  • Isabel was so bad, they retired her off the list and replaced her with Ida

  • After the storm hit that pocket of wind shear off the coast of the Bahamas, it doubled in size, so the damaging winds were spread over a larger area. Yes, the storm weakened, but just imagine if that wind shear subsided enough for Isabel to strengthen back to major hurricane status. North Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, and other affected areas would probably have been wiped off the map.

  • I did not know that ray stagich was around back then.

  • i got out of school for like 2 weeks because of this back in 4th grade

  • @deepsleeper01 I know, right? Imagine Isabel slamming Virginia Beach, and OBX at peak intensity.

  • man, it would be a disaster if isabel hit obx with peak intensity

  • An annular hurricane means a near perfect to perfect structure. Isabel was a large storm and even more intimidating due to it being annular, which let it keep it's intensity over colder water.

  • @myrtlebeach2011 annular means near perfect circular structure

  • LISTEN EVERYBODY: HURRICANE ISABEL WAS AN ANNULAR HURRICANE, A SMALL HURRICANE WITH A VERY LARGE, CIRCULAR EYE.

  • BTV, small?

Hurricane Isabel was the 4th largest storm in Atlantic Basin History, with gale force winds extending out 500 miles in diameter. So I would say it was the opposite lol
