This is Richard Patkos (in his sex teacher T-shirt), piper and Uilleann pipe maker, playing a couple of reels on a 3/4 set he made himself in the Taylor style at an International Pipers Gathering in Hungary (in the city Gyöngyös). Richard arrived to this festival as a member of the excellent Mishina Pipe Band with his Croatian pipes and without his Uillenann full set. In the morning I had an appointment with Richard to fix the drone and regulator reeds. He fixed them in an hour, but he did not like the chanter reed in my Rogge chanter, and he fine tuned one of his reeds into the chanter. Having a perfectly working Irish pipe set the organizers asked Richard to play the Irish pipes as well.

  • On second hearing, I'm not so enthusiastic anymore ... Good technique, of course, but he got carried away speedwise - we pipers all know this phenomenon. What a pity. The set sounds good, though.

  • First one is Within a mile of Dublin, I think. Great playing.

  • the man can play...
