01 VW GTI 1.8t comin alive in second gear. The exhaust is a straight pipe that is non resonated and catless with a magnaflow universal muffler. Sounds great I love it. Couldn't pass an emmisions test but I realized a 11 HP gain on Dyno.

  • where would i buy just a straight pipe?

  • Just go to an exhaust shop and they will cut out your factory system and replace it with a one pice exhaust pipe.

  • i have a mazda 3 and i wanted to know if i should just get a magnaflow muffler, or the whole thing. let me know. which is better. thanks

  • My past two cars I have just cut the pipe right before the catalytic converter and had a shop bend me a custom pipe and then I have a magnaflow universal for a muffler. I think that is the best way to go all around. And It cost me $60 bucks for the muffler and I had a larger pipe bent and put on and the catalytic converter and resonator deleted for 180. I don't think that you will be happy if you just replace the muffler. It doesnt effect the performance at all and the sound changes very little.

  • what if i just get a straight pipe. any ideas?

    thanks

  • Well thats basically what I did at first and it sounded really good. It sounds a lot rougher. My car has a turbo so it sounded really good. It was a little too loud for daily driving for me though. So i put a 60 dollar muffler on their. I would try the straight pipe first and if you like it then keep it. If not just buy a muffler whenever you can and get it put on. The muffler can go on anytime without major work being done. I would just make sure you get rid of the cat and resonator.

  • @Damien1350 but dont you lose back-pressure?

  • I agree, I removed the cat and replaced the N75 Valve on my 1.8t. I did a custom magnaflow exhaust thou, probably close to what you have done. In place of the cat I put my resonator and put the O2 Censor in that, then stright back to my muffler. Only problem is I think the O2 censor is placed wrong which keeps the CEL on. Any ideas? @Damien1350

You obviously don't know anything about Turbo cars. I'm assuming you are referring to a loss of backpressure which would result in problems for a N/A car. This car has a turbo; therefore, it makes its own backpressure. The only problem that could result from removing the cat on a turbo car is that the turbo could spool too quickly. This is fixed by replacing the stock N75 valve with an aftermarket valve. There is no damage that could come from removing the cat.

  • Hey man is it 3 inch straights? Or 2.5? Plz I would appreciate ur help love the sound

  • Dude I love that sound. U should make a video of u taking off like actually getting on it cuz I really wanna do the same. Thanks

  • You can buy them online

His straight pipe he bought from a exhaust shop.

If your not putting it on yourself you need to go to a shop, any auto repair shop will do it and order it for you for about 80 bucks + the price of the exhaust

  • which magnaflow muffler is it? and how big is your piping?
