LBJ passed civil rights ONLY to get the blacks voting democrat.

In a phone conversation (on tape at the LBJ Library) with Sen. Russell(D) of Georgia, LBJ said, "That'll keep the niggers voting Democrat for the next 200 years."

So, this is why it was done. The republicans tried to pass it in 1957, but LBJ, JFK, and Al Gore Sr. screwed it and voted against it.

Pres. Eisenhower(R) pushed to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1957, but LBJ(D) & friends screwed it to worthless. JFK(D) & Al Gore Sr.(D) voted against it.

Nothing like reading messages by people who know nothing about history and how the government works! So if LBJ passed Civil Right and Voting Rights to get Blacks to vote for the Democrats then I guess Eisenhower did not so that White people will vote the GOP! I wish people would THINK before they write things!!!

I was in country in Naval Intelligence in 1965 and discovered we were not allowed to win the war. We could have won the war at any time but the directives from the White House were to perpetuate the war and every commander in that theater knew it. LBJ and his cronies were personally making millions off the US troops they were having killed. Honoring his memory in any way disgusts me.
