  • For one, they are in chain because they are owned and they can't just run around, they are hunters and can be dangerous to other dogs and people around (except their owner), for the second, most dogs have access to water 'cause the city deploys water tanks around the city for the dog owners to collect (free) water for their dogs.

  • I know why they are in chains, because years ago something happened with a child. I know the water tanks but most of the owner do not use them..I work together with the offical vet of Greenland, she asks for support because the dogs are suffering all over Greenland. Yes, the dogs should not get fat but a lot die of hunger, I have seen it by myself and it is not the exception. Even the greenlandic minister for agriculture agrees in that. A project with media and politicians will start soon.

  • Extremely sad and heartbreaking. And the dogs seem always to have hope to be rescued. I wish I could rescue them all and make the rest of their lives paradise. Anyone who can, please rescue a dog or other animal from a human created hell whenever you can.

  • Yea, you're pretty stupid alright... And it's spelled, "Eskimo," by the way. And it's love for animals. Not love to animals.

  • Their condition varies according to the owner, of course. Something is obviously very wrong if you have dog corpses and skeletons lying around willy-nilly. But either way they do have to be chained. In the olden days they were let loose unfed to fend for themselves during the Summer season and the Inuit simply accepted that some of their kids would be devoured every year. Eventually the Danish authorities shot any dog running loose.

  • who are you people? what is an asian eskimo? you must really don't know anything about greenlanders! since when do we have european greenlanders?

we have plenty of love to animals because with their help we get our food supplies for the winter - people from my town report abuse to rescuers just like they do in other countries. lighten up dude! so much prejudice and ignorance doesn't help to love the world

  • camera lies a lot to those who are ignorant

  • @sergeantkingston

It used to be even worse. Explorer/author/raconteur Peter Freuchen (1886-1957) wrote that in the Bad Old Days the Inuit often simply let their dogs loose to fend entirely for themselves during the summer months. They simply accepted the fact that some of their children would get devoured. Although the NorthWest Greenlanders ("The Polar Eskimos") tended to take better care of their dogs and looked down on the Southern Greenlanders.

  • I LOVE GREENLANDIC DOGS!<3

I'm greenlander and I'm proud of it! When you look at this video, you probably think all people who live in Greenland are idiots who treat their dogs badly! but no! the people I know, they treat their dogs good! All Greenlandic dogs must have chains on, because they can bite humans and they are not pets! don't hate me, i'm just saying! I HOPE ANIMAL ABUSE WILL STOP OR ELSE I'LL KILL YOU MOTHERFUCKER!!! TO CHINA, I HOPE YOUR GUYS STOP EATING DOGS AND CATS!

  • YEAH RIGHT!!!!

As you can see it is summer and not winter. And you Should see the dogs in winter time. They're happy cause they can run the sleds and it's not so warm.

    TAKE A CHILL PILL! :P

  • Most sled dogs are not vicious, they're more gentle than most dogs, as if they fought all the time, they wouldn't work well in teams. Most northern people had dog sub breeds for hunting and working.

Dogs like the Dolgan, and Samoyed and half of all the laika breeds stayed in the yurts and chooms with their people serving as living blankets when they were not working.

  • :( speechless
