In this video, I'll show you how to install a power supply unit, or PSU, into your case. In this particular video, I'll be installing it into a case in which the PSU will be mounted --on the bottom.--

There are two different methods in which you can install your PSU:

Fan on top:
-Pulls air in from inside the case. This generally makes the PSU run a bit warmer due the warm air inside the case.

Fan on bottom:
-Pulls air in from the bottom of the case. This makes the PSU run cooler because the air outside the case is (in most cases) cooler than inside.

-Make sure that you are putting your tower on a flat, hard surface. This will ensure your PSU gets ample airflow. Avoid putting your tower on a carpet floor if you mount this way.

  • hey, could you try to do a video of how to set up a raid on windows 7 please. If you do, it would be greatly appreciated

  • @chbiron90 I'll add that to the "videos to do list" for you.

  • Your cable management sucks. Tidy up your cables, it increases the air flow within the case and lowers system temperatures.

  • @TheAwesomeSplodge I know it's not great, it'll get better over time.

  • when you gonna show the vid of startin that baby up?!

  • @meow85 Already did in the SSD/ HDD comparison videos last week. :)

  • can you plug in the 8-pin connector anyway, even if your processor don't need it? or will it burn up?

  • Do the cases that bottom mount PSUs have an airflow opening on the bottom of the case?

That was not shown on this video.

  • NEVER put your case on carpet! Electrical currents can arc and cause shorts in your components. At least put the case on a block of wood. I've noticed that cases placed on the carpet floor at work seems to develop problems. No one believes me because they are idiots who don't listen to my warnings! I know peeps who hold they memory while walking on carpet across the room, then develop problems after installing-refuse to believe that their memory is fried. Carpet and leather is a no-no!

  • With your PSU's fan mounted upside , it will take air directly from the Video card , which after my opinion would be beneficial for the video card.

If you mount your PSU with the fan looking down , then it will be beneficial for the PSU itself.

I am planning to buy a radeon 6870 (may heat up to 100C).

How should I mount my PSU?

  • Amazing Presentation.

    Thx.
