There is a another funny story that is related to his famous ski jump crash.Years later Vinko Bogataj was on in his way to do a TV interview on ABC sports when he was involved in a very minor car accident.Responding later to the accident he replied.

"Everytime I'm on ABC,I crash."

Yes, he is. After a brief ski jumping career he took a brush and began painting. I saw some of his nice works a couple of years ago. By the way some of my Slovenian relatives are from his hometown Lesce near Bled Lake.

If they ever bring WWOS back, they should use that gymnast who ran into the horse when he was trying to vault, but I don't think ABC filmed that, so they probably wouldn't. I don't think they should use any footage where anyone died, though.

Glad I saw this after all these years. I always remember this on the intro to Wide world of sports and people at school saying he died from that fall. Now I know the truth. Only took me more than 30 years, but now I know.

No, Vinko would still be the one. However, Hildebrand would probably be the *second* clip for it, the one that immediately followed that, traditionally, was another agony-of-defeat moment.
