We, humans, lost the ability of consciously reading facial expressions and body postures that happen for a split second. Dogs didn't! They are even hardwired to read ours and react to them! Minute changes in our faces, our eyes, our foreheads, and dogs already know what's on our minds, before we do.

To understand action and reaction of such speed as in dogs, think of you, driving the car while talking passionately with someone. You still push the brakes promptly; you don't forget to signal and turn right or left; maybe you slow down to avoid a dog. You do all this, while you concentrate on what you say, not on what you do, on the driving. And of course you remember doing all this, and of course your driving is done voluntarily. But, just as in dogs, good conditioning (education, learning, training) helps us a lot to have the right reaction at the right time.

Fasten your seat belts and watch two dogs actively talking to each other.
