Russell Creek Road Relocation

As part of Dominion Power's construction of a 1.8 billion dollar power plant in Wise County, Virginia, Russell Creek Road had to be relocated through an area underlain by deep mine spoil. Eastern US mine spoil consists of clay to boulder size particles.

Dynamic compaction was selected by MACTEC Engineering to compact the mine spoil. The dynamic compaction was completed by TerraSystems within a three week time period.
