  • What's up with the crazy number of views in the past day or so??

  • I have this game, i played it the other day on my 2600. I've been collecting some of the old games on Ebay now for the past few weeks. Some of the ones i used to enjoy. I have an Atari emulator on my PC, but i prefer the real thing. Good review.

  • Yeah, no emulators compare to playing on the original hardware. Ebay is an ok source for some of the harder to get games/hardware, but I steer clear of it unless there's a really good bulk lot up for auction (most stuff tends to be overpriced). There are a bunch of non-auction classic game retailers online that offer pretty good prices.

  • does anyone remember the trick to getting super high scores? A friend of mine could basically play with the same helicopter for the whole game. He figured out some trick that let him keep going on forever.

  • If you think about it, this was basically an Atari 2600 version of Defender. When judged that way, it is probably better than the actual Defender port to Atari 2600.

But look at the elements. The "laser death beams." The "radar display." You are protecting the convoys instead of "humanoids." It is a pretty good version of Defender for the 2600. Better than the actual Atari 2600 version of Defender.

  • If I remember correctly there was a switch on the Atari that you could flip that would let you fire "big beams" as we called it. It was harder that the regular mode.

  • One of my most favorite game of my younger days!!!! good review....

  • Wasn't there a switch on the 2600 you could use to put the game on a more difficult setting? I remember the chopper having a cannon mode where you had to push the fire button for every shot. It also made a different sound.

  • nice vedio man. it brings lot of old time memories. i still got my atari cartriges but my atari console is long gone. i have chopper command, asteroids, combat, space invaders, pacman, air sea land battle, basketball, dodge em, night drive and five more i cant remember. i will wait for another 20 years before i sell them on ebay. I wish im still alive then.

  • It probably has a lot to do with this being linked to on reddit.

  • That's a lot like defender or empire strikes back.

  • I dunno if commentary was needed....
