Commander, speaking across the Pond as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, I emphasize with you. You never do it for the money. You make friends and you do something important for your community.
I was only a little kid when and living over in Canada when the ROC shut down and I only heard of it last year when I came across Sound An Alarm on youtube. I did a research paper on the ROC (check out ROCA newsletter no. 55 July 2008 i think). I had a dream i was in a huge training camp for new observers. Seeing this video made me wish the ROC was still around so I could go sign up lol
I conceived, wrote and storyboarded this film, then supervised the film crew during filming. It was filmed between Jan - July 1991 and was planned as a recruiting film.
With the stand down announcement filming was ceased and the film cans shelved, but we finally realised that we could change the ending and issue it as a sort of eulogy to the corps.
I was in the ROC for 28 years, 13 years as a full time officer. I still miss all the hundreds of friends
Irritates the hell out of me when I hear cheesy songs (in this case, Broken Wings by Mr Mister) being ripped off and made even cheesier. Stinks

Hi Adrian,
Good to see the Vids on here - even though I invested in one!
Hope a few more ex-ROC see it - stir a few memories.
