http://zennie2005.blogspot.com -- The latest episode of this long standing battle between Chevron and Ecuador teamed with plaintiff lawyer Steve Donziger has the Ecuadorian Court in the act of indicting two of Chevron's lawyers for the charge of fraudulently claiming that Chevron completed the remediation process -- a charge Chevron denies.

Chevron asserts that Donziger is "in bed" with the Ecuadorian Government -- something covered here before -- and held a press conference calling for charges to be brought against the Chevron lawyers.

While Donziger claims he did not do that, I did uncover a press release by him that does point an accusatory finger of fraud at one of the Chevron lawyers involved.

Overall the detail of the press release implies that Donziger does have a close relationship with the Ecuadorian Government.

Because of this, it's hard to take what their courts do with any real serious tone of justice.

  • Its suspicious that chevron's youtube channel (TexacoEcuador) concerning this case does not allow viewers to post comments. What are they afraid of? The truth?

  • @thelancemanion I have no idea.

  • @danman801 I know that several foreign oil companies are drilling there and that you can't pin it on one company for something that happened 19 years ago. It's a joke!

  • @hydrolad Months?? How many months??? I am Ecuadorian and I have seen the mess? You say 99% you really don't know what are you talking about for you information Texaco exploited the Ecuadorian Amazon forest before the consortium with the Ecuadorian State was made and the state company in that time was not Petroecuador why don't you make some research. Where were you tell us some of the areas? did you drink from the water there?? Do you know the production when Texaco was there and what is now?

  • I spent months there. 99% of the mess I have seen is PetroEcuador's. Do some research. Chevron was never there - Texaco left Ecuador almost 20 years ago, and spent $25MM dollars cleaning up more than their share of the waste (their share was only 35%). The wastewater that entered some streams was NOT "toxic." Briny water is not toxic, and flora/fauna are thriving. Indian populations have actually INCREASED since Texaco was there. Don't read propaganda, read data and think for yourself.

  • Have you seen Chevrons mess in person? I for one... have. They dumped more that 18 billion gallons of toxic wastewater into the Amazon that has damaged countless acres of once-pristine forests. Furthermore, countless people and animals have been severely harmed. Poison was everywhere.

It's easy to point the finger at a corrupt organization who would destroy everything in their path just for a few extra bucks.

  • Refusing to clean up their horrendous mess in the Amazon is pure sketch.
