I re-covered this song since I didn't feel satisfied with my first. The reason why it took several weeks to record it was because I could nail Friedman's solos better and better for each day, and I developed as I, frustrated by failure, attempted to record. Thus the recording of the solos used in the video got delayed.

It was originally intended to feature drums like its predecessor, but the main drum beat was kind of hard to copy and play perfectly thanks to the hi-hat. My first attempt? As you can hear, I was a little off-beat there as well. And I rather not play them at all than play quarters instead of 8ths on the hi-hat.

It's not a very heavy song, but it has Friedman's best solos in my opinion and many original ideas.

Recorded from January 22nd to February 8th of 2010 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera, audio recorded with an iAudio 7. Edited using Magix Music Maker 10 Deluxe and converted as a 640x480 resolution Windows Media Video with 25 fps.

Guitar: Jackson Warrior WRMG (with EMG 81/85)
Amplifier: Peavey 6505+ and an Ashdown Peacemaker 412A cabinet with Celestion G12E-50 speakers.

  • You motivate me to keep learning. I'm at the moment failing Friedman's solos. Can You tell me is it better to sit for hours and learning by ears or using tabs? How much time it took you to learn your first covers?

  • @sickarpeggio66 Do it by tabs. By learning to read tabs you'll get to know the neck and thus also train your ears in the process. It usually took me maybe four hours or so, one hour every day. You'll learn more per hour if you split it up since your muscle memory and brain actually processes what you've learned when you sleep, I guess.

  • you should cover some deth songs from countdown to thirteen; like Dialectic Chaos, Kick The Chair,Elysian Fields, Headcrusher, Ashes In Your Mouth, Loved To Deth, KIMB, and The Skull Beneath The Skin. Definitely something from Endgame and KIMB

  • @xcamero360 That's cool, because 71% of those you listed are at the top of my list! "Elysian Fields" aren't really my cup of tea however, and I'm not sure about "Kick the Chair". Thanks for the comment!

  • one of my favorite covers in youtube. this has always been my favorite song of theirs. :)

  • You are fucking god!

  • @DecapitalPunishment Look for my video called "Practice routine" or something like that.

  • @SwedishBerzerker Thanks man. Any tips?

  • @DecapitalPunishment By the time I made this cover: About four years of 1h/day practice.

  • SwedishBerzerker, I'm currently learning guitar and I was hoping you answer this question for me. How long did it take you to get to the point where you could learn songs like this?
