Mormons account for 2% of the California population. Assuming 100% of them voted (which is impossible), what about the other 49+% who also voted against it? How do the Mormons take so much publicity on this issue? 2% folks.

@DCshirley I think the saddest thing that I'm learning more than ever is that it's individuals like Mitt Romney who prove the point that too many leaders tell lies in order to get what they want. I've never seen a man who is running for the office of president tell such outrageous lies as that man does. It's an embarrassment for me as a man who tries to follow the Prince of Peace and live His way. The fact that the LDS Church will not admit its mistakes (as we all need to) is not helpful.

@DRVBJR There were cases where Bishops and Stake Presidents used fear tactics (i.e. Church discipline) in order to heavily influence Church members to get out their check books and donate a lot of money toward the campaign in favor of Prop 8. The LDS Church has a lay priesthood and therefore these individuals were donating time and money in their Ecclesiastical positions and not just as members of the Church.

@hawkeyery The gay community did have marriage rights for a period of 6 months until a bunch of religious fanatics decided to use the state (using the tyranny of the narrow majority in voting against this right) in order to not allow anymore same sex marriages to occur in California after that. Those same gender loving couples who were married during that 6 month period ARE STILL LEGALLY MARRIED.

Prop 8 isn't? Perhaps Jesus and agod shouldn't have put condemnations against it in the Bible then I guess. Your LDS, but you don't believe in the Church? Strange. Any other oddities you'd like to share?

@OpinionatedJosh Ok, know it all, lets see some evidence to prove that there are "attempts to sue the LDS Church into officiating gay marriages where it is legal..." I'm LDS and I'm sick and tired of the fear-mongering, mythology that is so rampant in LDS culture about this issue. It's time it stopped.

This video tells the truth brutally. There are a lot of people who appear to be offended by it, it's about time you experienced the feeling of having your rights taken away & not being able to marry the one you love. Prop 8 is a bigoted, racist, evil and WRONG bill that disenfranchised tens of thousands of California couples and their families. For a Church that preaches love & family, prop 8 showed forth just the opposite. Prop 8 is definitely not something Jesus would ever have done.

Grandfathered? That's nice. If you don't like equal marriage then don't marry someone of the same gender, it's really simple. This is people's lives and civil rights, not some exclusive country club. Thank God for the honorable Vaughn Walker!

Completely untrue. Homosexual couples married before Prop 8 get to keep their marriage license due to the Grandfather clause.

@Islander255 Not true, what about the Grandfather clause for Married homosexuals before prop 8?
I love this ad because it is true.
