Knowsley Village (near Liverpool, England) is home to Monica Weld-Richards, a devout Catholic, and her Anglican husband, Barry. Monica has always felt a special calling to the priesthood, but being a woman in a man's church, her call must go unanswered.

Shot during the 17 days between the death of Pope John Paul II and the election of Cardinal Ratzinger, "The Pope's Woman" explores the tenuous relationship between faith, tradition and obedience. Directed by Ricardo Martensen (Brazil). Produced by James Graham (England). Edited by Gina DeBartolo (USA). Produced at the University of Salford in 2005.

  • Hey FKTHPOPE, not sure what sect of bible-thumping you come from, but keep it up- the more you demonstrate how hateful and ignorant and intolerant religion is, the sooner people will wake up and learn how to be good humans without it. Hooray for hate! Down with love!

  • Is it a shock that you can't tell if it is a man or a woman speaking in the beginning. At least she still has her fondness for cookies, as there is not way in HELL that the Novus Ordo is giving out anything like a real Eucharist anymore.

  • there are many inaccuracies here. I note only a few, firstly you say the traditional Anglican Church, you could go there. This is not an option as it is a different faith, we are not one, they are schismatic. Of course ecumenism is intended to bring us together again, but we are not one and you cannot cross like that. Secondly the woman who is dressed as vicar does not celebrate the Eucharist, but communion, this is not transubstantiation but a symbolic gesture. Heresy.

  • @williamwallac94

you are seriously stupid... its just bad bread...

  • @USSYODA1992 Christ was a nonconformist for His time. He raised woman up, i.e. the Samaritan woman, He spoke to her even though it was forbidden. The adulterous, go forth and sin no more. And His own Mother, Blessed for all generations. If Christ wanted woman priests, He would have had His own Mother to be the first. As far as your comments about Christ's approval of the Catholic Church, I have no idea what you mean by that ambiguous statement. Christ Founded the Catholic Church to be His Voice.

  • @catholics4unity Enlighten me then. Why shouldn't women be preists in the Catholic Church? But, also, I must ask, do you think Jesus would approve of the Catholic Church today?

  • @USSYODA1992 Your comment defies logic. However, you are young and lack the theological background knowlege to make a intelligent comment. Thanks for sharing. Also if the woman wants to become a priest so badly, she can join another heretical church, which allows woman priests.

  • @catholics4unity By that logic all male preists should also be 33 and of Middle Eastern descent.

  • Woman can not be priests, period. Christ was a man, To be a priest is "inpersona Christi" in the person of Christ. Women have various roles in the church. Women should emulate the virtues of the Blessed Mother. Purity, humility and obedience. The Roman Catholic Church does NOT have the power to ordain woman. If it did ordain woman it would cease to be Catholic.

  • Jajajajajaja woman pope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaj
