Back in my day we got a glass bowl a small layer of stones to clean get the fish in a separate bowl clean the glass stones put the stones back in then water the the fish your done

Finally a video of someone who actually knows how to change aquarium water!!
The key is "LITTLE AS POSSIBLE" Not this 50% crap. Those who change 50% or more weekly are just bandaiding a more serious problem in their tanks. As long as you keep the nitrates within safe levels 40.0 ppm or lower and the "gunk" cleaned out of the tank and substrate, you are fine. I have been doing this for over 40 years now and never changed more then 20%, and no fish deaths, other then old age or being eatten.
