April 6th marked the official commissioning of the Stetson II wind power project, located in Danforth, Maine. Students from a local high school, construction workers, company representatives and area residents were among the people who showed up to celebrate this addition of clean renewable power to Maine's electicity grid. With this project, Maine now has 199 MW of wind power that is helping reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, reduce greenhouse gas emmisions and create clean energy jobs. Stetson II consists of 17 turbines, with combined capacity of 25 MW. The Stetson I project has 38 turbines, for 57 MW. Combined, this is the largest wind power project in New England.
The turbines are 389 feet to vertical blade tip.
