This song is a version (a modified cover) of an old portuguese song from the village of Penha Garcia. The original song was composed with voice and adufe (and hand drum played by womens). It was popularized by a famous adufe player called "Ti Chitas". There is an old recording in the 70's with "Ti Chitas" featuring "Banda do Casaco" on this song.
In Penha Garcia there is a Church devoted to Nossa Senhora de Azenha.

It's not a Saint, it's Virgin Mary....so she says "e rainha do Portugal...(she's the Queen of Portugal)" ... e libra-nos de tudo mal ("deliver us of evil") It's like a prayer. :)
