Known as the "Conquering Lion of African Music," Thomas Mapfumo is Zimbabwe's premiere musician. A musical legend, Mapfumo is credited with introducing the electric mbira (finger piano) to world music. Mapfumo is also a political activist and intellectual, whose work, based on Shona traditions, crosses cultural, social and historical bounderies. Mapfumo now resides in Eugene, Oregon.   • hey fools why focus on the facts of things that happened decades ago. give the man a break! lets give him the credit thats due to him for being the music genius that he is. i was particularly impressed by the song 'hwahwa ndakahurega', especially the mbira. its so sad that our very own musical instrument is more appreciated in foreign lands than in our own. our youngsters idolise the likes of P. Diddy and Jayzee and yet they never can any acclaim for that. i feel so proud to be Zimbabwean

  • im from murewa and very happy that mapfumo was honest enuff to mention that bhustsu mutandarika originated from there, I grew up watchn this music in the villages
