Waiting outside West Niles High School for a health care town hall with Jan Schakowsky. Had a conversation with some anti-health care reform protesters. Anti-reform protesters seem to be uninformed about the role of government and the purpose of taxation. Or maybe it's just another case of not wanting their tax dollars to go to "those people".

  • Employers shouldn't provide health insurance. They don't provide car insurance do they?

Health insurance companies should only be allowed to provide insurance to individuals not to large groups.

  • Large groups (like employers) can get discounts for buying insurance in bulk, thus lowering individual premiums. So you're saying you are in favor of paying more than you have to for insurance?

  • I'm just so happy that I don't live in the US. XD

  • Im a Canadian and personally love our system. It really bothers me to see Dateline and other FOX programs saying our system is terrible. We might need to wait 3 hours with a broken bone but atleast we dont need to pay. I dont even see how this can be an issue in America, it should be a no brainer to get free health care, i do not understand whats wrong with getting your healhcare for free. Thank you FOX news and your biases.

  • Why not just have the government provide insurance for everyone? That way there is only one buyer--this is called monopsony power--and you have the most leverage to negotiate fair prices with the drug companies, etc., who charge Americans 2 to 3 times what they charge people in other countries, for the same drugs, which are made in America.
