I don't think he realized how ignorant the cast of the Morning Joe were about how Social Security works when he was speaking with them. Ron Paul has been paying into Social Security for a very long time. It is his money that he is getting back when he receives those checks.

First off: he didn't have a choice whether to pay into Social Security. Secondly, he would opt out if he was 20 now because the government is taking money FROM Social Security to pay for other things. Getting a Social Security check is merely collecting your own money years later. If our money is going to be gone when we get that age, why should we have to pay it in? We can save on our own, thank you very much.
