really impressive!
But.. dont you think that thinking too much about spending/saving money makes you be less free? its like an imaginary cage you put yourself in. you watch your money and hesitate all the time when you have the desire to spend money on things that provide fun (and fun provides happiness)..
whats the sense of having much money on your bank account anyway? isnt it enough to watch your money in this way that you dont get yourself into debts?

it makes the world go round

Great video, Moneys such a touchy subject to most people (myself included) But it's good to know where you are in your life and what you can afford to Splurge on.

Here is a couple tricks that I picked up over that last couple of years. Stop using cards when making everyday purchases, and only pay with bills. All loose change from the day goes into a large jar, which is rolled and counted every month. This goes into a savings account and at the end of one year I usually have about $1000+. Another is to take a % of every pay check and put it into savings. I currently take 10%, and I've done this with every pay check, so I've budgeted around it.
Ok, so we're not the only one in this situation, which is...well, being broke.
Thanks for sharing. But now, not being American, money has never been a priority for me as long as we can manage to pay rent, and eat. Are you guys happy?
It looks like it, at least on video. Think about that.
Oh, and George, send me a guitar music video! Cheers!

Hey Rex, money has never been a priority for us either - only freedom: the ability to do what we want when we want. We are ridiculously happy (individually as well as together). Why do you ask? P.S. We're shooting George play right now!

Pitti - Great point, but there is a difference between being cheap and being aware. Perhaps we'll explore this in another episode. Yes, the point of money is to buy things that make you happy - but that's complicated. For example going to the movies 10 times can make you sort of happy, but saving that money and going on vacation can mean greater happiness. It's a matter of your values.

Yup - I've read Rich Dad Poor Dad - I like it's philosophy, but it doesn't teach you anything paricularly practical. It's a good place to start though. Maybe we'll do an episode on it. Thanks! -T

I really enjoyed your background bit. And I was little freaked out you shared your finances. Showing us your empty "mattress hole" would've done. Keep up the good work.

We were a little hesitant to reveal our finances as well, but we figured that one of the biggest mistakes poor and middle class people make is that they don't talk about their money. For some reason rich people do.
