Oh Elmore, Elmore, Elmore.... So very underrated. Up there with the best of all time.

They say blues is feel good music, amazing, I'm pulled in by the guitar ,then the singing and lyrics are so heart felt, and blues is suppose to be feel good music.Well, my eyes are teaing up ,my heart is feeling what Elmore's singing about and I feel great.I guess blues is feel good music. Its sad the current blues singers, with the exception of Buddy Guy and BB King cant really cut it.When BB, and Buddy leave us, I wll really be singing the blues.

@ScorseseKubrick Yes there actually is! There are some songs which feature Eddie Taylor, they kick ass!

@rob1927blues Not annoyed my friend really. you are just misinformed Elmore & Robert were friends & wrote songs together. It was a known fact until lately when so many claim to know what they are talking about & do not know the truth. Johnson got his break one way & Elmore got his another. But they never had a problem with who wrote what cause they were buddies!

@enduggy Might be Lowell Fulson.

A qustion to Elmore James experts: are there know Elmore James songs that he doesn't play the guitar solo on? Meaning it's played by another guitarsit.

Sadly no footage exists or even live recordings, according to the excellent Steve Franz book, The Amazing Secret History of Elmore James. IF anyone knows otherwise please post. It would be the holy grail. Fleetwood Mac also do fantastic versions of this song, and others. One featuring, J. T. Brown, is on their Chicago Blues Jam album. However an even greater version exists from one of their demos, which was eventually released on CD. Jeremy Spencer was great at doing 50s blues/rock'n'roll songs

There would be elmore james without robert johnson, there would be no robert johnson without son house(and a few others) and son borrowed a thing or two from papa charlie patton so i reckon there would be no rock without charlie patton! sorry dont get annoyed........

you can shorten this, as robert johnson started as a charley patton imitator (like several others)

it seems that elmore james is the author for this "everyday i have the blues"
because of the troubled times, lack of money and promotion on the music market, he was rather well known only inside the black music comunity.
later on, many other musicians took some original elmore james songs and thus became hits.

i don't think so.
Many artists have recorded this song before elmore did.
this of course is no proof that he didn't write it, but producers at that time were not stupid, and as memphis slim and bb king and others had a hit version of this song, surely elmore would have recorded it too
