Pretty good movie, I remember it having some of the best production values among HK-produced Jackie Chan movies, at least among those with a modern setting.
But I'm pretty sure it used the usual fast forward tricks during car sequences, which was especially detrimental to this movie since it is centered on racing.
When they do a blu-ray, I'd love it if they'd re-edit the car sequences to slow them back a bit and make them look more natural.

Yeah sorry mate, I passed comment before I watched part 2.I used to love this film myself, but revisited it a couple of months ago and couldn't believe how badly its dated, same for Rumble in the Bronx as well.
Good indepth review though mate, anything he's done before Drunken Master 2 for me. With the exception of New Police Story.
Can't believe he's retiring from the genre next year, A.O.3: Chinese Zodiac will be be his farewell to the action genre, god! what am I going to do with myself:(

I also had this DVD. I had almost Cantonese, Mandarin and the U.S. I like Action, I like your accent too.
The said US version has been shown on BBC and Channel 4 television loads of times, and sometimes shows on Film 4 and Sky Movies.
I hate to burst ya bubble mate, but Jackie was seriousley injured during this film and is practicly doubled for the all the action. Watch the fights, you can clearly see its not him. Spoils it for me and I love Jackie. Anything he was doing in the 80's is the best of his work, Thunderbolt doesn't even come close.

1) They showed the original HK version in PAL format on BBC and Channel 4
2) Loads of times? It aired twice on BBC and once on Channel 4. It has never aired since because New Line Cinema got rights on it - and like Drunken Master II, twing dragons and many others, haven't been on TV since.
3) Hate to burst my bubble? I mention that he uses stunt doubles lmao. Did you not pay attention to the review?
4) Thunderbolt is my fave film. 80s was his decade deffo but that won't stop me...
