  • Same thing here... 8440p, Bios F.07 and Win7 x64 Enterprise.

    But try this - unplug the power cable and replug it. Sometimes it keeps the fan quiet!

    For now i have deactivated "Sleep" and only use "Hibernation" until HP fixed it with a BIOS updated.

    Except this bug the 8440p is a great notebook :)

  • For the hp elitebooks there's an option in the BIOS regarding the fan when power is plugged in. The default value is "always on". Try to turn off this to see.
