Um. . . whut? What youtube poop/fandub did you watch of the Zelda TV/cd-i for that kinda reference? Seriously, link it, I want a good laugh!
Plus, from what I've seen, MOST ALL convention skits are cheesy, because the main goal for skits is to entertain the whole audience. So appealing to everyone usually means to throw in silly stuff that a good number of people will likely enjoy = the "cheesy" you so describe. Plus, we're all pretty nerdy for bein' into this sorta stuff to begin with. ;D
