Every continent except Antarctica has a continental divide. In North America the divide runs from northwestern Canada along the crest of the Rocky Mountains to Mexico's Sierra Madre Occidental, and it is generally the line that divides the flow of water between the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean.
In 1968 a federal plan for the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDT) was mandated, and today, construction of the CDT is estimated to be 70% complete.

The 14 Butte-iful kilometers along the CDT between Montana's Homestake and Pipestone passes is scheduled for immediate completion, and it offers scenic vistas with majestic rock formations. This race along that scenic section celebrates the trail and the memory of one of its greatest local proponents -- the late John "the Wulfman" Wulf, who was the God Father of Butte's Piss & Moan Runners. The race will be run on the first anniversary of the Wulfman's passing.
The CDT 14K is also the host of the 2008 USATF-Montana Trail Championship.
Race proceeds will be donated to the Continental Divide Trail Alliance whose mission is to build and improve the Continental Divide Trail across North America.
