SOCOM: Combined Assault - Blindside

Combined Assault seems like the black sheep of the Playstation 2 games. It does have some speed run friendly missions though, which makes the game suck a little less. It even has two badges (think achievements or trophies on more recent consoles) that reward speed running! One for completing the game in under 7 hours and another for completing the game in under 4 hours. Those are both very easy to do, by the way.

Anyway, this mission is probably my favorite in this game. You're supposed to be more sneaky and blow up the bridge to cut off the convoy's escape, but that's slow and boring. Two well-placed rockets are enough to deal with all three vehicles in the convoy, thanks to the poor decision making skills of the truck driver.

The tunnels were a bit difficult to survive, because a lot of goons in there are using shotguns. You'll notice that I used a shotgun as well (awful weapon type in this game). The reason for that is that I only need to fire a few shots at close range, and bean bag ammo (seriously) usually causes an enemy to drop his weapon after a single shot.

For extra fun, remember that the dudes who surrendered were in the same area when the satchel charge went off. Leon--er, I mean Specter--doesn't take prisoners! RAWR! (Now why couldn't he use one of those on Ashley or Ada?)

At the end of the clip is just a short run of an Instant Action level on the Blindside map. The objective is simply to grab the suitcase. Specter was clearly wearing his Sprint Shoes that day. That, or he used the Striker to run faster!

By the way, weapon accuracy went to heck in SOCOM 3. Combined Assault is practically a (slightly updated) mission pack for 3, so the same thing applies here. Firing while running is a guaranteed way to destroy your accuracy stat, and firing while standing still isn't very hot either. So unless you're playing a sniper role, you WILL miss...often.

When my son asked me for a Playstation 2, I thought he was crazy to waste time playing those stupid computer games.

Next thing I know, I'm up at 4:00 in the morning (and I have to go to work in a few hours) blasting my way through Ijakistan or, wherever the hell it was.

I never care about weight I always equip myself and my guys with full body armor and always have SPECTOR (myself) and jestor have light assault rifles KILLJOY with a light MG and SIMPLE with a sniper

Sure it's light, but it's not powerful enough. I usually use the mark 23.
