Wow. I just realized I really hate Solor now. He's such a wimp. I actually don't fully blame Gamzatti for what happened. She's not purely evil; she is genuinely in love with the IDEA of being in love with Solor, and she only vows to kill Nikiya because Nikiya tried to kill her first. Personally, I think a bit of the blame lies with everyone.

i love how gamzatti just appears at 2:22 its like a horror movie for nikiya!

This was absolutely divine. The costumes are to die for, Guerin and Platel are both beautiful not only physically but spiritually as well - they truly express passion and anger, especially Guerin. And the music is sublime - I haven't heard the original Minkus score, but Lanchberry did a magnificent job translating it to fit the original as close as possible...it's my favorite of all the ballet scores.

gamzatti heard that nikiya and solor are in love. she calls nikiya to her and asks her if it is true, and nikiya says it is. then gamzatti tells her that she and solor are betrothed, and tries to bribe nikiya to leave him with jewels, but nikiya refuses. she is very upset, and goes after gamzatti with a daggar, but gamzatti's handmaid stops her. nikiya leaves, and gamzatti says she will die.

i don't understand this scene.. can someone explain me?

I don't think by placing her hands on her shoulders it's a gesture of chastity.
I feel it's saying "I am your servant" or in respect to royalty more in the lines of that.
Because nikiya does that in the begining to the high bramin and during the dance and then here in this scene again.
Even the sevant of Gamzatti does it.
the face of gamzatti at 00:24 is like "oh no, she is so beautiful! deam it!" lol
