(Video 2) This is a vintage Maplin 5600s stereosynthesizer. This sequence is based on his two transient trapezoid envelopes. It's a very nice matrix synthesizer with many parameters ...much more than an EMS VCS3. His Matrix has 30 x 30 contact points (900 in total) for complex I/O and control voltages.
It has a built in spring reverb and an amazing cv controlled phaser.
The "kick" come out from a RSF Kobol driven by the Maplin 5600 trigger.

  • I have one of these and it was awesome but stupidly i plugged it straight into the mains and although it worked for a while it no longer appears to be working anyone know what sort of power supply it needs

  • @airbrush1701.

Hi, There is a custom Maplin PSU inside with different voltages. Are you interested to sell it is "as is" conditions? Thanks

  • from buchla300: Nice! I have the predecessor ( ETI 4600 )

Must get it up and running. Certainly cool and slightly underrated machines but depending who built it, they can be problematic. Yours seems to be a-ok

  • from me: I bought this Maplin 5600s from a cool UK engineer. It working perfect, professionally built & wired. Of course I have personally cleaned some old scratching pots... anyway a standard work to do on old synthesizer.

  • @scienceforce Sorry want to hang on to it, having had it up and running i know it was well built. forgot to say before i also plugged a tape player in the input socket which may have been partly responsible but as it didnt damage it straight away im not sure, the guy i bought it from sold it as he was tired of getting it fixed but when i have the money and can find someone capable i will give it a major overhaul. thanks for the interest though it's good to see someone else appreciates it.

  • Wow.

  • sweet

  • I used to have one of these. It was sooo insane. Bought it for 80 pounds. Sold it for a lot more but wish I had it now with what I now know about synthesis. Got some dat tapes of it somewhere. Jeez it was sooo heavy. my music - reverbnation add a com a sla5h then my name

  • This could be a great song but you need to add a melody on top.

  • Amazing find! all synth nerds will be drooling!
