This video was taken 5 miles into a 40 mile race. This is what I did when I was 14-16 yrs old. I was on my way to become the #1 open rider in the desert. I broke my hip at a race in Glen Helen,CA and before I could recover my idol Danny Hamel was killed by an ignorant Federali, during the start of the Baja 1000. That also marked the end of Kawasaki running the baja races. Godspeed Danny Hamel, The best there ever was or will ever be.

  • why are the buts on the seats?

looks way easy - maybe the angle is deceiving...

  • If you lost ANY momentum on this hill, it was extremely difficult to keep going. It's actually a hill on a hill and is covered in shale. Fun Times

  • yhis is harder than it looks it reminds me of mesquite nevada grand prix & you all need to grow up & have some respect & i do belive it was 15 years ago today that desert racing lost a great #1 R.I.P DANNY MY OLD FRIEND

  • Yeah 2 mins per lap 4 total. I was 1st overall novice and high up in amatuer also. I don't remember total overall. My #17 year was 1994, but I crashed out in March and never returned. Yeah District 37 and My name is Kevin Andrews.

Also on a side note, I am a mellow guy, but when guys get on here and give me crap I give it right back. It's the way I am. Sue me.

  • @kdawg17

So was that 2 mins a lap slower? or the whole race. if that's two mins the whole race what place did you get overall?

what year did you get the #17 plate? Was this D-37?

    And what is your name?

  • THAT KID ON THE 85 SMOKED ALL OF U ALL

  • Agree.

  • Invol Manslaughter aside, YES we fully agree on wishing Hamel was still around. He was the Best there was or will ever be.

  • actually it would be involentary man slaughter...but still i think we can both agree hamel was taken away too early in his racing career and wish he could be racing and overalling in the vets class today

  • Semantics aside, that Mexican Federali should of known a race was starting. Who makes a U-Turn w/o looking? There are NO Accidents, ONLY Collisions. If you cause someone to Die while driving, You might as well commit Murder.
