What's the basis for how this works? I'm not sure I understand exactly how a hop picker processes the cones. Great work!

Yeah, you're right that is a lot of labor just to remove leaves.

The hops do not easily separate from the leaves because of the thick stem that attaches them to the bine. This method is similar to that used by large industrial farms.
