There were "some" exaggerations, but there was some serious craziness going on.
The "sniper fire" was mostly people fighting off hoards of cockroach gangs.
Most of those so called "people" looted more than just food (Taking food from w-mart is one thing, but electronics and consumer goods?).
And the rapes and assaults were quite real.
