R.I.P Thomas!! You were a true Etna passionnate and you disappeared while doing what you loved, but much too early. Thank you for the wonderfull video.

For whoever is watching this video, I received some sad news that Thomas Reichart (The maker of this video and others on his profile) has died during a recent trip to Mount Etna. He had slid on ice and fell for many metres at the Hornitos area behind the South-East Crater and broke alot of bones.

it means MAGMA. not lava. lava is frozen magma

I don't think so ... think of a "lava flow" how should this work. In my opinion magma is it called inside the earth and lava when it is on the surface...

Cose you dont, its perfectly safe, unless you throw yourslef into the lava then thats a small problem. Brilliant footage, any idea what type of lava it was, rough guess at the temp? ive allways wanted 2 visit etna mabye i will someday.

alkaline/basic or basaltic lava (SiO2-Gehalt < 52 %, low viscosity) temperature around 1200 °C (for basaltic lava, not measured)
