  • @lilithdeswan

Mason or Ball jars depending on which company made them.

    Regards

  • @assym2006 how are those american screw on top jars called ?

  • Doesn't Clarkson show himself up with the comment about being owed 42 billion pounds? oh wait, he'd already done that joking about his mother being old...

  • Very big thing, since it pre-dated canning foods!

  • @Ladybugmommy Yessir and they make a damn good glass, I was waiting for someone to say that!! LOL! Good post.

  • those we have alot of in Norway. We made alot of jam in those. we just call them Norway glasses.

  • we call em Mason jars out here!

  • you can stil get the jars , mainly in the US, they use them for home 'canning'

  • @captianmorgen i dont want to act like a know it all but i think these profession help new industries in research and development. for example u need a plastic jar that can stand 2 billion degrees of heat, they help you to go back in time and see what compound they used 200 years ago and see if you can make a compound of plastic that can stand that kind of heat with materials available then and now by mixing them together.

  • @captianmorgen It's a tendency on modern history to hyper-specialize due to overabundance of sources. I knew a guy who studied the wool trade of a northern england town between 1604 and 1611 for 40 years an hasn't finished yet.
