Richard Francis -- March 2009

An short interview with Richard, who died on Sept. 4, 2009.

Sorry to hear about Richard Francis' death yesterday as the result of a heart attack. I remember him always introducing me to new music, movies, books, ideas -- often way over my head -- but it was hard not to get caught up in his enthusiasm.
Last March, for Project Quest 25th anniversary, I taped him talking about his meeting with Lusijah and having her on his radio show over 15 years ago, as well as other things. Thought I'd share it as part of my remembrance of Richard.

I'm so glad to have found this. I just found out last night that Richard passed away last year. I worked with him many years ago and we bonded quite well, given our similar senses of humor and delight in the "offensive". He was a wonderful soul and I am really, really glad to have this clip of him as I remember him, especially referencing (and with) Lusijah and Jack, whom I heard much about over the years. Many thanks.

I found out this week about his death. I was shocked and called the station last night during the show he started so many years ago. Francis was instrumental in my early music career and had me on his show a few times in the early 1990s when I was only in my teens. After moving back to Oregon recently I was hoping to reconnect with him and only got to talk for a brief moment.
