I'm afraid I have to disagree, Andy. I'm an Elmore Leonard fan, and I think this film fails due mostly to Tarantino's ego, his need to insert himself so insistently in the proceedings. As you mention, this was QT's first adaptation -- without creating the dialogue, he has to intervene distractingly as filmmaker. I much prefer Soderbergh's Out of Sight, in terms of Elmore Leonard stories on film. It's much tighter and more respectful treatment of the author's intent.

Good review, I think this is defintely Tarantino's most underrated film.

i completely agree with his statement that it is a subtle film compared to his others. in fact it has a great but subtle and almost unexplored romance, which is pretty rare in tarentino films. great review of an underrated movie.

@culliford666 not everyone would agree, of course not everyone know shit about movies, this movie is so good, because it doesnt waste time in special efects but plot and dialogue, one of the best movies of tarantino for sure, right there with true romance

good review man!
Good job, you nail it with your final words there. This is one of those movies you can watch 50 times and not get bored.
