Exhaust and cobra wheels. Yeah those little brit cars handle better than go-karts! I LOVE MY BRITTISH CAR!
P.s it cut my comment in half.

Yeah I own one I'm restoring. This commercial sucks, I'd never get one if I saw this first. The USA emission regulations made the USA version stupidly under powered but they still weigh the same amount as an empty Doritos bag and handle sharper then almost anything else on earth. The best thing to do if you want fast over originality is to do what I am. Replace the engine with a Chevy v6 or a 150 horse 4 cyl. A new 5 speed tranny doesn't hurt either, not to mention my WRX suspension flow master

@jagamichl this is at leat half of what motoring is in a British car. Cruising along at a nice clip. Or, getting spirited on some nice winding roads with the wind whipping against your hair, at as cold as 45 degrees!!! I love my Brit cars.

national racing car.... being overtaken by everybody else

unfortunately the 1500 was a bored out 1300 to meet USA emissions, mark 3 was arguably the best most reliable engine. My 1296cc is 40 years old now and produces 128 BHP cruises well at 70mph with overdrive. You get in turn the key and the roar you cannot help smiling

Get to work on one of these in in autobody class. Pretty nice car I mite ad. Kinda wish I could take it out for a joy ride haha. It has the 4 cylinder engine but apparently the owner is swapping motors after were done the all the work.

my first car.1970. Bought it in 1980 and lent it out to a friend who blew the engine. Tragic!!!! never drove it again.

@sketchler I think it is that its a powerful and winning sports car and perhaps this has scared him to drive fast and unleash that racy motor.
-
@sketchler thats wat i thought cuz wat i got from this ad is that the kid is pissed he cant go fast or something by ignoring the narrator and not exactly in a comfortable driving postion not to mention gets passed by like 3 trucks!!!

@autoquick Well, an engineering firm I've been working with has been building a GT6 for a road rally in new zealand... they have achieved 150mph at 7000rpm in overdrive top... That's some going for a GT6!
oops! optional overdrive available from 1964 on according to wikipedia. that would give you more speed on the fwy.

yes! wikipedia is right! ...and you need to implement an extra oil-cooler, than you can also drive longer distances with the spitfire...

pretty much the worst commercial for any product, ever. what are they trying to prove?
sketchler 4 years ago
whatever... maybe that driving a spitfire is also fun without speeding up... and they are damn right! ;)
