If you just require insurance, licensing is unnecessary. Insurance companies gauge risk/competence much better than bureaucracies. A doctor who can't afford their premiums is probably a bad doctor.

I listen to this, and see, and agree, with the importance of cutting through the obfuscation surrounding state licensing as it pertains to a single field of human interest. ...but I also now see how the granting of, or the denial of, sanction for chosen activities, applies to near every case of someone's desire for unearned power and/or personal benefit, at an unjust cost to others, found further from the roots and reach, and less capable of accessing those with political power.
