In my opinion, Augie is probably the greatest coach in college baseball history. You can see how much he cares about these guys. He doesn't want them to fail in baseball or life. He really truly loves them. When a coach can get to the point where he starts cursing and screaming, THAT'S when you know a coach loves you. I've met Augie personally and been practically coached by him. It doesn't matter who you are. If you play baseball, he'll want you to succeed. Hook em' Horns!!!

All the guys who never had a coach like this don't understand what baseball is all about. These types of coaches teach us how to be punctual, mentally tough and grinders out on the field. Only the weak say this method doesn't work

It's a baseball game. When I played it didn't shape anything I do now except I have great respect for my coach because he was a gentleman. He never uttered a profanity. This isn't love, it's preservation of a job.

This coach built the Fullerton baseball team from the ground up and got them 3 national championships. The team now has a coach who played for Fullerton under Augie and the team is 9-0 and have destroyed every team they've played. I bet the new coach uses the same coaching style as Augie.
