"Among Negroes of my generation there was not only little direct acquaintance or consciously inherited knowledge of Africa, but much distaste and recoil because of what the white world taught them about the Dark Continent. There arose resentment that a group like ours, born and bred in the United States for centuries, should be regarded as Africans at all. They were, as most of them began gradually to assert, Americans."

This is why I love Nas.

Honestly, alot of Africans look down and dislike Blacks because of the way African American people regard us, talk to us and talk down to us. Honestly, when an African American calls an African person an " african booty scratcher" what kind of response do you expect to get? Why would Africans like people who regard and them in such a manner? Just something to think about

@MajorrBison I don't think he was saying that Africans like Bono. I think he was hinting to a conspiracy of why would Bono have a bigger turn out than him & how that in itself is not plausible. & I think it's deplorable how Africa is portrayed in the Western world because I know every country in Africa is not "A dollar a day". Hope you don't feel offended by my comment even though it's all late.

Peace to Nas, Godfather of Hip Hop and revolutionary activists. Keep spreading the message blood. Keep it up#Afrikan Love, I say 'Afrikan' because the name 'Africa' was derived from 'Afreek', which was a Roman province on the North end of the continent, everything from the name of the continent to the individual countries was given in the name of seperation#Love for the motherlan#Hetepu

so u think africans like bono, u must be ridiculous.....africans eat, dream, sleep, and drink their own music and if they want foreign music, it's mostly african american or carebean music, an average african teenager don't know who bono is but will tell u who nas is, i am AFRICAN, Nigerian and i know what i'm talking about. And i'm gonna make it clear, not all africa does ''a dollar a day can help'' ok? not NIGERIA OR SOUTH AFRICA WORD.
