It was a cold winter morning when I went out to my local rail yard. It was probably 40F, cold for us Mississippi folks, anyway, they were starting these babies up. Took about 3 hours for them to fill up the engines with water. Now, they're ready to fire'em up! Enjoy!

  • Your lucky that they let you near the rails like that CSX must not be as up tight as Norfolk Southern I remember back in the late 90s Conrail crews would let me and my Dad go into the cabs of the locos when they would be at a red signal NS are a bunch of assholes They act like they own the hole area around there tracks Even if your sitting off of the posted privite property area they act like they have the right to run you off Sorry to any employes of the railroad. Im a rail buff not a fall& sue

  • Blame it on the terrorists!

  • @rocintrucker83021227 Actually this railroad is KCS. Not CSX. Plus, my uncle works for KCS, so all the guys know me.

  • At 1:57 during high idle, does the engine do that automatically, or does the engineer notch the throttle?

  • NO, I'm sure he's back there doing that lol! The SD70s do this automatically sometimes depending on the mode it's in.

  • I just to get such a high from hearing that whining when trains passed my house. I use to live 500 yards away from a rail line. That's when I fell in love with trains. The SD40-2 took my train-loving virginity lol!!!

  • Now unfortunately I'm in love with GE dash 8/9s. Sorry EMD fans! LOL!!! Did anybody see the new GE commerical I couldn't believe it. They had a commercial about loving trains it was sweet someone should post it on youtube!

  • @valareksic

but this is a hlcx leaser

  • That thing sounds beast!!!

  • @valareksic Actuall, Moammar Gaddafiand Osama bin Laden Specificly

  • @LycoValleyRRFan I think it was on the west shore between Chickys rock area up to around Harrisburg area. This was several years ago and only made the local news. I'm not sure what cp that is I cover cp Harris/ Philly to cp Blandon area.

  • @rocintrucker83021227 Where was that at along the Susquahanna?

  • @LycoValleyRRFan A few years back NS went along the Susquahanna river and ripped out peoples private boat docks that they had built There issue was that it was on railroads right away and the people had to carry there boats across the tracks to get to the water. Again Conrail knew about this and had no problems with it that I'm aware of, and if they did they would have ripped them out. Vandells and suers gave railfans a bad name. We know to stay off the tracks and don't mess with stuff. Peace

  • @rocintrucker83021227 And RRs wonder why people (good railfans) get pissed at them. I know my local RR will not let people anywhere near the yard of theirs mostly fear of fall and sue. Like this one idiot sued because he parked his 4 wheeler to close to the tracks and a train came by hit it he was in the bushes pissing and I guess it hit him(the 4 wheeler) and he sued. I don't know what the out come is because the case was still going on when I learned about it.

  • @EddieGrouch Agreed, I was not around for the NW and Southern merger I only can remeber back to the 90s when it was the big blue I'm from Pennsylvania and railfan the Harrisburg/ Philly line I miss the days when the cops new you and ask you how's it going. Now with the change over terreroists and fall and sue cases they generaly ask a bunch of questions and come by every half an hour to see what you doing I tell them I got nothing to hide I just have a scaner and a camera, thats my truck. Peace

  • I'm from a railroading family. Around here we had Norfolk & Western and the crews were like family. I practically grew up in the yard tower. When the Southern RR took over the N&W the whole atmosphere changed and things become so tight-assed that folks started hating the railroad. It's all corporate minded and corporate mentality is just one tiny step from government mentality. The RR cops have the authority of state police but NS cops turn the generic term 'railroad dick" into a pronoun.
