Greyhound seem to have no notion of falling, one of mine slipped half of the futon and just lay there with her head and shoulders on the floor and her butt on the futon looking mildly confused as to what just happened.

@JLGreyhounds I am so glad to hear that! There is nothing worse than petting a dog and then being able to smell them on my hands. It makes me not want to pet them cuz then I'm constantly washing my hands. Short haired dogs don't seem to have that problem.

@bythepool1 lol That's sweet. I don't think my little dog will allow that though XD

@TheBookVlogger They also don't have that doggy smell like other breeds.
-
@scarybex They try to fit into the smallest space possible, and when it fails & they fall, they don't quite understand why. Even my Italian Greyhound does this, and I have to admit it's mildly amusing.

She is such a cutie! My Lurcher fell off the sofa because he was too lazy to get off it. I went into the lounge after being out for a couple of hours, and there he was on the sofa. He was so excited to see me that all his tail wagging and paw giving pushed him over the edge. It was really funny, but he gave himself a bit of a fright. He didn't get back on it until the next day. I suppose he learned his lesson as he hasn't fallen off again. Anyway, that's me off to watch more of your videos.

She looks just like my girl. Mine is not allowed on furniture, but has her own. Mine loves some belly rubs too.

I have 3 Whippets and 2 Italian Greyhounds. All of them nap during the day on Couches. At night, all of them sleep under the covers of my bed.... LOL

Greys at rest usually have to lie on their sides; because on their fronts their haunches don't touch the floor as their deep chests keep them off the floor! And sitting isn't really a natural position for them. The softer a surface the better because of their bony bodies and thin coats.
-
@limbrooke83 Oh that makes sense. I've heard that Greyhounds have a hard time staying in a traditional sitting position or that they even prefer sleeping on their backs. I guess I'll have to make sure I have lots of cushy chairs around when it comes time to adopt :)
I've notice that a lot of videos about Greyhounds seem to have owners who allow their dogs onto the future. This is an entirely new notion for me. In my house it's always been big dogs on the floor, and small dogs allowed on. Not that we've had many small dogs in my life. I hope to someday have greyhounds and the idea of them being on the couch actually doesn't bother me. I think it's because they seem so sweet and cuddly. Plus they aren't as hairy as our dogs.

@TheBookVlogger Lol! I hadn't noticed that trend w/greys, but it makes sense. Greyhound don't have a lot of natural cushioning, so they either need *really* fluffy dog beds or access to furniture. ;-) DeeDee actually has free access to the couches, but "permission only" access to the bed. She's just too big to sleep on our queen sized bed with us, lol. She has a dog bed right next to our bed, but sometimes she chooses to go sleep on a couch instead. :-)

Just wondering, but are greyhounds allowed off-leash at dog parks?
MunksRock01 3 months ago
@MunksRock01 Of course! Greyhounds are usually great with other dogs. However, if the dog park does not have a separate area for small dogs, it's usually a good idea to muzzle the greyhound (with a basket muzzle) just in case their prey drive kicks in. Also, I'm assuming you're referring to fenced in dog parks. Greys typically should not be allowed off leash in an unfenced area - again, due to their prey drive and speed. :-)
