Why Engine Quits when I brake

hey i need help my nitro doesn't wanna start and when i get it going it runs fine till i take the glow plug off soon as i do it starts puttering and dieing.... ive got the idle set higher than needed just so i can keep it running... its got good compression but i think my piston and sleve might be bad how can i make sure that's what it is?
