Religion and politics do not mix. When will people understand this?
There is no democratic religious country. You cannot govern via religion; it will be bias towards one religion.
People are religious in other countries but they do not cut off people’s heads because they disagree on a topic. They practice religion at their homes and churches.
To be religious suppose to be a way of life not how you want to control others way of life.

@revolutionnow11 You are making two crucial mistakes here:
1. Your sample on how religious the people of Iran are is limited to the people in the big cities. Even in those cities, there are still people who look at the islamic regime as a "holy" thing.
2. Reform is not like a revolution; it does not die! Reform is a set of political, social and economical changes that happen in order to make a system more efficient. Green Movement has come out of reform and is a reformist movement.
He is mostly right. For example he is right about the fact that the US is supporting some of the most fundamentalist governments on earth as its allies; such as Suadi Arabia.

Well it depends how you define right and wrong. Some people define beheading as a "right" thing to do. So what part of this speech do you exactly agree with?

@revolutionnow11 : beheading might be a "right" thing in your opinion, but you can never deny the fact that Suadi Arabia represents kind of a government which is in direct opposition with values that the US claims it is a guardian for (such as freedom of speech).
And I'm also agree with his view about how we cannot get to western visualization of democracy over night. You like it or not, many Iranians are still religious and scared of the word "Secular". He is saying this in other words.

Lets just clarify, I am not Muslim and so don't like beheading!
No I disagree, the Iranian society is a Islamified, which is different to being an Islamic society. People are modern and do not practice religion. In fact they do the very opposite. Young people have sex before marriage, drink alcohol, watch western movies, etc. Who sells the most, the guy that sells alcohol or the guy that sells quran? who sells the most, the movie with religios theme or a porn movie?

In my opinion those who advocate reform over a long period do directly benefit from the current system. Reform is dead, it has been for years, 24 years of reformists rule is long enough for them to prove themselves. Guess what they have failed and have to go along with the entirety of the system!
