@LordSlag The word you're looking for is consumerism.

All I know is Europe is Failing and fast but politicians just speed it up!

@g1a1r1y3 Really? You don't think greeeedy corporations throw money at all candidates, hoping for a payback, and narrowing the voting field? In my perspective, greed IS blind self-interest. And it's also ignorant.
Call me the masses, and of COURSE place yourself above 'us'. Greed is the driving force behind most of the evil in the world, ESPECIALLY war.
Why are people ignorant? Because greedy elites can exploit them more easily, and FOSTER ignorance.
Stupidity? That's pretty resonant...and vapid

over population is just a myth.
-
Seriously you think it would be greed when you have so many better ones? How about ignorance, blind self-interest, stupidity, fear, public policy (political, economic, social)... Greed only seems intelligible because it is what resonates with the "masses"- but the masses are the problem.
That most Americans waste the majority of the energy they use or pick the worse political candidates have nothing to do with greed.

@carnedge1986 top comment really...lol

This is what happened to past civilizations that collapsed: (apart from natural cataclysms)
1. The rulers forgot to care for their people, became too self centered. The people lose their faith in their rulers, as their establishment weakened.

@cjradskier1 You have caught the kernel, greed is the root of all our ills.

@userwl2850 nuclear fusion already exists , you maybe talking about cold fusion?
-
overpopulation is the problem
If they start searching for a "Single Factor" that caused the collapse, they'll come to the conclusion that it was greed. Greed will be the collapse of this civilisation.

46:11 Fissionable materials suitable for reactor fuels are in huge abundance given current 4th and 5th generation reactor designs. Sub-critical, energy amplified, accelerator dependent reactors can close the fuel cycle, greatly ameliorate (but not completely solve) nuclear waste problems both current and future, and they can't melt down, mostly using the nuclear "waste" we already have sitting around. We merely lack the will because people are too stupid, ignorant and fearful.
